Finding the Value In Yourself

I have worked with a lot of women over the years and I understand the emotional roller coaster that it takes to get fit.

Wait, getting in shape is an emotional roller coaster?

Yes it is and it it’s not the training that’s emotional. It’s finding the value within ourselves.

Many women want to get in shape because they really don’t like themselves and believe that

weight loss will be the cure.

We look for fixes and fads because of the lure of the perfect body, but in reality we’re looking for our perfect self.

We allow ourselves to be judged, or we judge ourselves. We trust the wrong people when we should trust ourselves.

I can tell you from years of experience that this approach is the wrong way to go. There needs to be a shift in mindset from not liking what you see to loving what you have and making it stronger emotionally and physically. We choose to look at ourselves in a certain light, good, or bad but choosing the good is incredibly difficult.

I often see that women use fitness and diet to punish themselves. They ate a little too much

over the weekend and work it off for the rest of the week. They feel ashamed and guilty because they feel like they failed. This is not what self love looks like.

Taking steps to get healthier is a great start, but it goes deeper than that. It’s the belief that we aren’t deserving to have value unless we look a certain way that I find upsetting. Seeing a women dislike her body is heartbreaking and fitness can play a funny role in that.

Learn to appreciate what you’re doing right instead of what’s not. By doing just this, you will see your true value.
